Vicious Rumors were formed in 1980 in Santa Rosa, CA, by guitar player Geoff Thorpe. Filling extinct the original batting order were vocalizer Mark Tate, guitar player Jim Cassero, bassist Jeff Barnacle, and drummer Walt Perkins. The set low gear monetary standard realisation that same yr when they began playing at Metal Mondays in Bill Graham's Old Waldorf nox nightclub. These shows delineated the nascency of what would become known as the Bay Area alloy scene: the biggest, longest-lasting, near important metal community in the United States. After self-releasing a few singles and beingness included on several important metal compilations, Vicious Rumors gestural their low gear record narrow in 1984 with the surging Shrapnel Records, operated by fellow northern Californian and metal entertainer Mike Varney. By this time, several drummers had been enlisted to fill a slur vacated by Perkins, and Larry Howe in the oddment got the job full-time and would hold if for ten days. Tate was besides replaced with vocalizer Gary St. Pierre from Hawaii, Chuck Moomy had replaced Cassero on guitar, and bassist Dave Starr replaced Barnacle.

The group's full-length debut, Soldiers of the Night, was released in 1986 to an specially warm European response. East Coast tag guitar hero Vinnie Moore was brought in shortly after the going of Moomy, just the virtuoso didn't last out long, as he was dying to begin his solo player life history. Before the doorway unopen behind Moore, St. Pierre was also sent packing and the classic Digital Dictator Vicious Rumors lineup was formed: singer Carl Albert, guitarists Thorpe and Mark McGee, bassist Starr, and drummer Howe. This group would detain together for nina from Carolina years. The Shrapnel follow-up, Digital Dictator, was released in 1988, and as the band's popularity began to grow domestically, they were signed to Atlantic Records. The group's self-titled Atlantic debut in 1990 followed, and Vicious Rumors supported it with the most extensive touring of their career. While never close to a top-level U.S. alloy behave, it appeared at the dawn of the '90s that the band had a real shot at break into the spot with bands like Mötley Crüe and Queensrÿche. That up trend continued with 1991's Welcome to the Ball and 1992's Plug in and Hang on: Live in Tokyo, which commemorated an extremely successful Japanese go.

During a layoff due to a injury to Thorpe, the group was released from their contract with Atlantic, possibly imputable not only to the band's relation inactivity, but as well the declining stateside popularity of the melodic might metal genre. Many European and Japanese criminal record deals followed as well as a few phallus changes patch the stria trudged on through the '90s. Logos of Mouth was released in 1994 and the group remained selfsame interfering touring the U.S. and Europe. As the group was preparing their next release, Something Burning, Carl Albert died on April 22, 1995. The set distinct to uphold on, cathartic an Albert tribute EP and live full-length recording of the singer's last performance. Something Burning was in the end released in 1996, and the disk featured Thorpe pull double duty by filling in on lead vocals. This criminal record coagulated Vicious Rumors' European basis as many positive reviews and another successful duty tour followed.

Piece Thorpe's vocal work was more than competent, the guitar player couldn't approach the manual dexterity of Albert and a fresh vocalizer was needed in holy Order for the striation to contain older songs into their live set. Singer Brian O'Connor joined the group for 1998's CyberChrist recording and tour. O'Connor was replaced in 2000 by Morgan Thorn, world Health Organization appears on the 2001 spill Sadistic Symphony. After 20 days, Vicious Rumors may not be superstars or even financially independent, simply Thorpe and his group deserve recognition for being true to their musical identity and consistently delivering dear, fashion-resistant music that their fans clearly appreciate.

New Research Claims Link Between Sugary Drinks And Type 2 Diabetes

Researchers claim that drinking sugary drinks could increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes.

Scientists looked at the link between weight gain, sugary drinks and Type 2 diabetes in 43,960 African American women.

The women completed a questionnaire about the types of drinks they consumed in 1995 and again in 2001. During the ten year follow-up period, 2,713 women developed Type 2 diabetes. Those who drank more non-diet soft drinks and fruit drinks (not including diet drinks, orange juice or grapefruit juice) were more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than those who drank less.

Women who drank two or more soft drinks per day had a 24 per cent increase in diabetes risk compared with women who drank less than one soft drink per month, and those who drank two or more fruit drinks per day had a 31 per cent increased risk compared with women who drank less than one per month. Diet soft drinks, grapefruit juice and orange juice were not associated with diabetes risk.

Diabetes UK's response to the findings

"It is very unlikely that drinking more sugary drinks alone increases the risk of developing diabetes," said Jemma Edwards, Care Advisor at Diabetes UK.

"However, consuming them could lead to weight gain and we know that being over-weight is a risk factor for developing Type 2 diabetes. Other factors include a lack of physical activity and a family history of diabetes.

"This research was carried out on black women only and we already know that people of black or South Asian origin are four to five times more at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes than the general population.

"Diabetes UK recommends a healthy, balanced diet that is low in fat, salt and sugar, and includes at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day."

The study was carried out at the Slone Epidemiology Center, Boston University.

Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda
Stars: Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie
Director: Mark Osborne, John Stevenson
**** (out of five)

Before we begin,  lets get the clichs out of the way yes, everybody is Kung Fu Fighting in Kung Fu Panda and yes, a cover of Carl Douglas one-hit wonder 1974 track of the same name features on the films soundtrack.

But thats where the clichs end. Co-directors John Stevenson and Mark Osborne have carefully adhered to the conventions of the martial arts genre without exploiting them, opting instead to pay homage to the movies of their youth with the use of animation and Jack Blacks very appropriate brand of humour.

Kung Fu Panda introduces us to Po (Be Kind Rewinds Black), a lazy panda who dreams of one day becoming a martial arts master, but is simply too fat and lazy to make it happen.

That is until he one day makes his way to a nearby temple to witness the crowing of the next chosen one destined to hold the title of master, only to find himself tagged with the honour,  much to the chagrin of the crusty guru Shifu (Stranger Than Fictions Dustin Hoffman).

The future of China which just happens to be populated by talking animals rests in Pos paws as he begins training with Shifus pupils: Master Monkey (Rush Hour 3s Jackie Chan), Master Tigress (Beowulfs Angelina Jolie), Master Viper (Watching The Detectives Lucy Liu), Master Mantis (Superbads Seth Rogen) and Master Crane (Arrested Developments David Cross).

Matters become more pressing when its learned that the evil Tai Lung (Hot Rods Ian McShane) has escaped from prison and is ready for a showdown with Shifu.

The comedy, if you hadnt guessed, is derived from an over-weight panda trying to master kung fu while trying to curb his voracious eating habits. For this, Black is the perfect choice to voice Po, a character built almost solely around the actors manic delivery.

The rest of the casting is also spot-on yes, even Dustin Hoffman as an aging warrior while the fight scenes are spectacular.

And although those scenes are full of laughs, theyre also carefully designed to present kung fu in a realistic fashion utilizing genuine fighting styles and techniques.

As per Stevenson and Osbornes directions, the fights drive the story from start to finish without seeming gratuitous, while Yong Duk Jhuns cinematography and the films fantastic animation bring China to life in a way weve never seen before.

More importantly, kids will love watching a dumb panda fumbling around as he tries to save his village from destruction at the hands of a sinister snow leopard.

Kung Fu Panda is funny, full of action and just scary enough in a couple of scenes to keep both kids and adults at the edge of their seats parents cant ask for much better.

DMX Arrested Yet Again, Probably Faces Several Months Behind Bars

DMX was arrested on Wednesday morning (July 2) in Arizona on a bond violation as soon as he stepped off a plane

According to his longtime lawyer, Murray Richman, the troubled rapper (born Earl Simmons) knew that as soon as he touched down in his home state for a court hearing on a previous case, he would be arrested. He now faces the prospect of spending several months in an Arizona jail as he awaits his next court date, and possibly more time after that.

"He was supposed to be in court today in Arizona, but he was picked up as soon as he arrived," Richman said. "The arrest was a result of him being arrested in Florida. That arrest violated the strict conditions of his $7,500 bond in Arizona, which stated that he could not be arrested while on bail."

DMX was arrested in Miami on June 27 for allegedly trying to buy cocaine and marijuana, just days after his arrest in Florida for driving without a valid driver's license.

TMZ reported that the rapper was taken into custody as he was disembarking from his flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Sheriff Joe Arpaio — known as "America's Toughest Sheriff," and the man who recently took away a pair of honorary badges from basketball great Shaquille O'Neal following Shaq's verbal put-down of ex-teammate Kobe Bryant — reportedly told TMZ that X "never learns his lesson" and that he hopes to keep the rapper in jail.

The case DMX was returning to Arizona to face stemmed from an arrest in May on charges of animal cruelty and drug possession, and was one that Murray said he was confident he could win on behalf of the rapper, who has been his client for nearly a decade. The attorney said he was disappointed in the latest turn of events, especially since DMX will have to sit in jail until the animal cruelty case is heard, which could be several months or more.

"I believed that we had a good, viable defense in that [animal cruelty] case, but I'm sorry to say that Earl played into their hands when he got arrested for driving without a license and for being in a drug-prone area, which violated the terms of his bail," Richman said. "It's very upsetting after eight years of working and trying to keep him out of trouble to have him get caught up for this nonsense. He took a situation that is a win, and we will win, and it places us in a precarious situation."

Richman said DMX had been informed before he boarded the flight that he was going to be arrested in Arizona, but that he knew he had to "take it like a man and face up to it. He can't keep running."

"Home Improvement" Kid: Don't Tase Me, Bro!

You know how it is with child stars -- they grow up so fast before our eyes and before you know it ... they're being tased by hotel security.
Read the docs
Zachery Ty Bryan, who played Brad Taylor on "Home Improvement" -- is suing Choice Hotels International over an incident back in April 2008. Zach claims he was staying at a hotel in San Diego when he and a few friends went across the street to grab a Gatorade. When he came back just after midnight, Bryan's lawyer claims the hotel wouldn't let him upstairs, since the room wasn't in his name.

Then things went really bad ...

Bryan's lawyer claims Zach tried explaining his wife was in the room, but the hotel refused call her. He claims an off-duty manager, who was not involved in the initial argument, came out of nowhere and tasered Zach in the neck. Cops came but no charges were filed.

Zach is suing for damages in excess of $25,000. Calls to the hotel were not immediately returned.
